8:30-8:45 Morning Connection

A typical day includes a morning connections, where students connect, share, meditate and review the day’s schedule.

8:45-11:30 Core Skills Learning Block

Core classes, which include math, language arts, history, science and foreign language, are schedule during this block. A learning block may include individual, small group, or class wide instruction.

11:30-1:00 PE/Lunch

Students have PE and a recess/lunch period every day. OCA utilizes our outdoor space as well as local parks and playgrounds to ensure students play and experience the outdoors. OCA provides a healthy hot lunch for families wanting to participate.

1:00-3:00 Project-Based Learning, Co-curricular, and Study Hall Block

During this time, classes are focused on class-wide or individual projects as well as offering co-curricular options like computer programming, arts, theater, music, Odyssey of the Mind, gardening, cooking, study hall and more.

3:00-5:30 After School Enrichment and After Care Options

We offer after school enrichment classes between 3 pm and 5 pm. Sessions may include foreign language, robotics, athletics, wood shop, and more. We also offer after care until 5:30pm.

Service Learning

Each trimester, Oak Crest Academy students participate in a community service-learning project. A new cohesive theme is explored and students take part in service field trips that directly tie into the cohesive theme and community segment area of emphasis. Each trimester the students will focus on People, Animals and Earth. Service-learning projects include working with a local food bank, working on a farm, recycling, stuffing bags for My Stuff Bags, making lunches for a homeless program, collecting and packaging donations for soldiers abroad, participating in beach clean up days, visiting the local animal shelter, working at a local thrift store for charity, and more.
