During the back-to-school season, the potential for your child catching a cold or other germs is at a high. To keep your child healthy and well-equipped for being back in the classroom with many other students, consider the following kid-friendly tips. Remind your child that hand washing is one of the most simple methods for staying healthy. Hand washing before eating, after using the restroom, and after playing outside will help keep germs at bay. Hand sanitizer is another kid-friendly option that can be easily kept in a backpack or desk. Remind your son or daughter to always cover the nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing; sending him or her to school with a small pack of tissues is another great idea. Next, be sure to explain to your child to keep hands out of his or her eyes and mouth- one of the best ways to fight germs. Finally, suggest to your child that he or she not share water bottles or utensils with others, as germs easily spread by eating or drinking after others.
